:Around the world, the operating room program is offered in two ways
In the first scenario, graduates of the bachelor's degree in nursing (after obtaining their degree) are trained for a period of one to two years to enter the operating room. In the second scenario, students in the associate's degree program complete the general training of the operating room course and are prepared to take on the roles of a circulator and a scrub nurse. Subsequently, if desired, they undergo an additional training period of one and a half to two and a half years to prepare for the role of a first assistant surgeon.
The operating room field in Iran at the associate degree level was established between 1987 and 2001, and the bachelor's degree program has been continuously and intermittently launched in various faculties across the country since 2008. On average1500operating room students are accepted into universities across the country each year, and since its inception,,6000 students have graduated in this field. In 2016, the operating room course was introduced at the master's degree level for the first time. The associate degree program for the operating room was launched in1988, and the undergraduate program started in 2008 at Zahedan University of Medical Sciences. Currently, there are 81 undergraduate students studying in the operating room department at Zahedan University of Medical Sciences.
