History of School of Nursing and Midwifery
Before the establishment of Zahedan University of Medical Sciences from 1983 to 1985, training of student at associate degree has carried out by Fatemeh-al-Zahra (SA) training and educational institute. The First group of bachelor level students were accepted at 1987 as the Zahedan University of Medical Sciences started. The First associated degree and bachelor students of Midwifery were accepted by 1989 and 1991 respectively. The Operation Room field at associate degree and bachelor levels was started by 1988 and 1998 respectively. At the moment 446 bachelor level students are studying in the faculty.
Graduate study was started by 2013 providing master of Critical Care Nursing and Consultations in Midwifery and after that every year students were accepted in many fields such as Medical-Surgical Nursing, Critical Care Nursing, Pediatric Nursing and Psychiatric Nursing. Currently 72 students are studying in master of Nursing and Midwifery. The faculty have 43 member of scientific board including 1 associate professor, 8 assistant professors and 34 lecturers.
History of the research and Information Technology
In 1995, deputy of research and technology of Zahedan University of Medical Sciences gave the delegation of authority to the faculty for approval of the research projects. Journal of the faculty titled “Medical-Surgical Nursing Journal” in association with Iranian Nursing Scientific Association and with permission of publish from Ministry of Health and Medical Education started publishing. This journal is a science-research journal indexed in web websites of Magiran, IranMedex, Islamic Sceince Citation (ISC) and CINAHL.
At the moment two research centers: Community Nursing Research Center and Pregnancy Health Research Center, are working with the permission from State Council of Higher Education.
